If you thought hypercar performance had peaked, well, Koenigsegg has other plans. On a quiet runway in Sweden, something extraordinary has happened. The Jesko Absolut has just set two new records, and the numbers are nothing short of outrageous.
Driven by factory test driver Markus Lundh, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut clocked a blistering quarter-mile time of just 8.54 seconds, crossing the line at an astonishing 305 km/h (189 mph). But it didn’t stop there. Over the half-mile, the car hit 373 km/h (231 mph) in just 12.76 seconds – making it the fastest production car ever recorded over both distances.
What makes this even more impressive is how it achieved these numbers. No prepped surface, no all-wheel drive, just rear-wheel drive, production-spec tyres, and pure engineering. It’s also the first time a production car has breached the 300 km/h (186 mph) mark in the quarter-mile.
Another fascinating thing is that these record-breaking runs were enabled by new software tweaks, which are set to be rolled out to existing customer cars via over-the-air updates!
